The concept of wabi sabi- the Japanese concept of finding joy and beauty in imperfection and simplicity-has long been one of the prime inspirations for my work as well as my personal philosophy on life.
In my work I endeavour to show the rough irregularities, cracks, marks and crevices left behind by weatheringand use.
My latest pots and wall pieces depict surfaces such as rusting, warping and peeling paint that you may find on boats, machinery and buildings around harbours, celebrating the passage of time and the beauty that ensues as a result of the inevitable cycle of growth and decay.
